How much does the surgery cost?
The total cost is approximately $30,000. Most insurance plans cover the surgery. You need to have a consultation in the office to first see if you qualify. We will then evaluate your insurance. For more information, please contact Medcenter One's finance office.
How long does it take to get an approval from the insurance company?
It varies. Some give an approval over the phone on the first call but most take four to eight weeks.
Does Blue Cross Blue Shield cover surgical treatment of obesity?
Blue Cross Blue Shield often covers gastric bypass surgery. However, there are some health plans with exclusions for obesity operations. Be sure to ask if your specific policy covers it.
Does insurance cover reconstructive surgery, such as breast lifts or removal of excess skin from arms and thighs?
Rarely, but it depends on your insurance health plan.
