Medcenter One’s Rehabilitation Center is pleased to offer low vision services, a new and innovative program helping people with low vision in their daily activities to maintain an independent lifestyle.

Low vision services are for patients with visual impairments that cannot be corrected by medical treatment or conventional eyeglasses, including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy or vision impairment caused by stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis and other disorders.

Patients must be referred by an optometrist or ophthalmologist with a low vision specialty. For more information, call Medcenter One’s occupational therapy department at 701.323.6153.

Spinal cord injuries

Spinal cord rehabilitation is an intricate and complicated process that requires staff to enhance a patient's abilities on physical, cognitive and emotional levels. Based on a patient's limitations, the staff establishes an individualized treatment plan. Each plan of care incorporates specific methods that encourage the client to develop pragmatic problem-solving approaches appropriate for his or her rehabilitation and continuing care.

Hydrotherapy

The healing and recuperative effects of water have long been known. The hydrotherapy pool at the Medcenter One Rehabilitation Center soothes aching muscles.

Supporting a patient's weight with water makes some exercises easier during the early stages of rehabilitation from stroke, burns, arthritis or joint injuries.

The Rehabilitation Center has two 16' X 30' therapeutic pools that provide a warm and comfortable environment that relaxes muscles so they can move and stretch more comfortably.

Under the gentle and helpful guidance of a physical therapist, patients ease their way to recovery in the warm water therapeutic pool and whirlpools.

Amputee

Baclofen pump

If you suffer from cerebral palsy the baclofen pump may allow you to function more independently. The pump delivers a continuous supply of baclofen, a muscle relaxant, to your spinal canal. The result is a reduction of the muscle spasms you experience with cerebral palsy.
