  • Minot State University, Minot, N.D.
  • Jamestown College, Jamestown, N.D.
  • North Dakota State University, Fargo, N.D.
Radiography

Students applying to the program must be nearing completion of their college courses toward the degree in radiologic technology. Priority will be given to applicants who will have completed all the requirements of their college by the time the program begins in August.

While enrolled in the program, students must maintain enrollment and continue to pay tuition to their college of attendance, which will be granting their degree upon successful completion of the program.

The following is required for application to the program

All of the items listed below should be submitted in one large envelope to:

Medcenter One Radiography Program
300 N. Seventh St.

Application
Applications may be received from your college advisor, or by e-mailing the program director, chanson@mohs.org.

$25 non-refundable application fee
Submit checks payable to Medcenter One.

Radiography
Technical standards
Read the technical standards required for a radiographer, and return with completed signature.
Transcripts
Submit most recent college transcript. If currently attending college, make arrangements so that the December transcript will be sent directly to Medcenter One Radiography Program, as soon as they become available.
Three letters of reference
Follow the directions on the reference forms, and submit the completed forms within their sealed envelopes.
ACT scores

These do not need to be official scores from the ACT. High school transcripts that include ACT scores are sufficient.

The admission committee will determine which applicants will be selected for personal interviews to be held in January. Only completed applications will be considered. Those students selected for interviews will be notified by mail with their interview date and time. Approximately five students will be chosen from those students interviewed. Students who accept the offer to enter this program will be required to submit a $250 non-refundable acceptance fee, which will be deducted from the students’ book fees in the fall.

Eligibility requirements

1. Applicants must have a minimum college GPA of 2.5.

2. The applicant must be able to perform the technical standards.

3. The applicant must be of good moral character, as identified through applicant references.

Radiography

***
The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) requires candidates to be of good moral character, as well as graduates of an accredited program. In the Examinee Handbook, the ARRT states that a conviction of a crime including felony, a gross misdemeanor, or a misdemeanor with the sole exception of speeding and parking violations indicates a lack of good moral character for Registry purposes. Those convicted of such a crime may be eligible for registration if deemed appropriate by the ARRT Ethics Committee. The ARRT may be contacted at 651.687.0048 for individual consultation.

All students accepted into the program will be required to submit a criminal background check. The student is responsible for the cost of this report, which is approximately $20. A criminal history could make a student ineligible to take the national board examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). It may also determine whether or not a student may begin or continue in the Radiography Program.

The student radiographer must be capable of:
  • Communicating verbally in an effective manner in order to explain and direct patients as it relates to their examination.
  • Handling stressful situations related to technical and procedural standards and patient care situations.
  • Providing physical and emotional support to the patient during radiographic procedures and be able to respond with speed to situations requiring basic first aid and emergency care of the patient in the absence of appropriate medical personnel or until the physician arrives.
