Medcenter One leaders, including Dr. Craig Lambrecht, President/CEO, visited Minot on Tuesday, Feb. 7, for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with the local Chamber of Commerce for Medcenter One’s two new clinics.

Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic opened a Minot location in late August, and Medcenter One Walk-in Clinic opened in December. The two clinics share a building in the southeast part of town.

Vesey named manager of Medcenter One Occupational Health in Bismarck

Deb Vesey has been named manager of Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic in Bismarck. Vesey, a registered nurse, has been with Medcenter One since 2007 and most recently was manager of several of Medcenter One’s specialty clinics, including orthopedics, podiatry, general surgery, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.

As manager of the occupational health clinic in Bismarck, Vesey joins the two other occupational health clinic location managers, Heidi Meduna in Dickinson and Jessica Mickelson in Minot.

Stephanie Murdock, director of corporate development, will oversee operations of all three locations, responsibilities that were previously held by Jeff Wetzel who is now executive director of Medcenter One MedEquip One.

Heidi Meduna was recently named manager of Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic in Dickinson.

As manager, Meduna will be responsible for budgeting, staffing decisions and department policies. She will also provide day-to-day operational direction, leadership, management, customer service initiative implementation and customer obtainment and retention.

Medcenter One is leasing space for a new occupational health clinic, set to open spring 2011 in southeast Minot.

Occupational health is the branch of medicine that specializes in assisting businesses to maintain healthy workforces by helping businesses prevent and treat workplace injuries and illnesses.

Erica Becker, a physical therapist, recently joined Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic. Becker received her doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of Mary in Bismarck.

At the Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic, Becker evaluates and treats work-related injuries and assists in the patient’s rehabilitation. She also performs pre-placement testing, pre-injury screening, work-conditioning programs, jobsite analysis and ergonomic assessments.

Medcenter One awarded cancer screening grant to benefit associates 10.8.2010
Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic was recently awarded a $4,925 grant from the North Dakota Cancer Coalition.

The grant will fund a colorectal cancer education and screening program for Medcenter One associates. It will be implemented during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month as part of Medcenter One’s work wellness program.

Dr. Douglas Berglund and Dr. Joel Blanchard of Medcenter One collaborated on establishing criteria for assessing colorectal cancer risk levels as part of the associate screening process.

Medcenter One collaborated with Healthy North Dakota Worksite Wellness director Pete Seljevold in applying for the grant.

Melissa Artlip was named Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinics’ corporate relations director.

As corporate relations director, Artlip is responsible for identifying and developing strategic relationships with current and potential clients, analyzing business patterns and service trends for areas of opportunity, managing the marketing, sales and product/service development and providing input on operational matters to ensure customer needs are met.

Artlip has six years of marketing and consumer relations experience and has served as marketing coordinator at Medcenter One since May 2008. Previously she worked at Altru Health System and United Way in Grand Forks as a public relations specialist and campaign and marketing services manager, respectively.

Murdock named one of North Dakota Business Watch’s 40 Under 40 6.28.2010
Medcenter One’s Stephanie Murdock, clinic administrator, was recently named one of North Dakota Business Watch’s 40 Under 40 honorees. Murdock was named executive director of Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinics in 2006 and, in 2009, became administrator of Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinics and Walk-in Clinics. Most recently she was named clinic administrator over all Medcenter One clinics.

Murdock was nominated by a fellow colleague and selected as one of the best business professionals under the age of 40 in the Bismarck and Mandan area. Selection criteria was based upon her career accomplishments including creating from paper to dirt the first free-standing occupational health clinic in the area. Murdock’s participation in community organizations including North Dakota Safety Council and Central Dakota Safety Association also showcased her dedication to her career.

Grant Judah, a physical therapist at Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic, was recently named injury prevention and rehabilitation manager for the Bismarck and Dickinson locations. Prior to this position, Judah was a work injury rehabilitation specialist at the clinic.

As injury prevention and rehabilitation manager, Judah will oversee staff and coordinate post work injury rehabilitation services and their protocols. He is also responsible for the Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinics’ injury prevention programs, such as ergonomics, the Lift Right and Industrial Athlete program, pre-placement testing, pre-injury screening, functional capacity assessments and job-site analysis.

Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic professionals Brooke Arndorfer, physician assistant; Lisa Clairmont, Kyle Darras and Laura Sunsdahl, nurse practitioners; Rosette Cavo and Marie Korynta, licensed practical nurses; Wanda Binstock, Kim Berning, Bonnie Dehne, Stacey Kalus and Andrea Backhaus, registered nurses, recently became certified in spirometry testing by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Spirometry is used to identify, measure and monitor pulmonary function. The NIOSH course focuses on the occupational applications of spirometry testing including monitoring lung function for patients with asbestos exposure or exposure to other airborne contaminates. It also identifies if a patient has the required respiratory fitness to complete their occupational demands.

Christina Roemmich joins Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic 1.5.2010
Christina Roemmich, injury prevention coordinator, recently joined Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic in Bismarck. Roemmich is responsible for the coordination and development of injury prevention services. She will confer with other health professionals and area employers to provide assessments, treatments and development of company-specific programs.

Roemmich completed a master’s degree in occupational therapy at the University of Mary in Bismarck. She has been an occupational therapy practitioner for 13 years, including 10 years of experience in environmental, safety and health fields.

Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinics’ Grant Judah, physical therapist and injury prevention and rehabilitation specialist, recently became a certified specialist in health ergonomics by ErgoRehab, Inc.

Ergonomics refers to the fit between workers and their workplace environment. Workers in office, industrial, healthcare and construction settings can benefit from ergonomic evaluations. Ergonomics may be used proactively to avoid workplace injuries. It also can be used as a tool in the rehabilitation process if the workstation causes or contributes to a worker’s injury.

ErgoRehab, Inc. is a nationally recognized certifying agency for ergonomics. Medcenter One Occupational Health Clinic in Bismarck and Dickinson, are the only clinics in the state certified by ErgoRehab, Inc.
