Medcenter One Dakota Children's Advocacy Center
The Medcenter One Dakota Children's Advocacy Center is a child friendly setting that coordinates services for children who may have been abused. This is a snapshot of how the Medcenter One DCAC helps child abuse victims, and how they're working to prevent child abuse:
- Interview and medical: Child victims of physical and sexual abuse have an opportunity to share their story and make sure their bodies are okay.
- Counseling and advocacy: Evidenced based services to help the child and family begin to heal.
- Teamwork: Agencies collaborate to share information, gather facts, and assist child abuse victims through a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Prevention and education: The staff brings awareness to the program of child abuse through educational opportunities.
- Family will not be billed: Services for child victims of abuse are accessible regardless of the ability to pay.
