Amber's DreamAmber Des Roches was just 15 years old when leukemia took her life in the days preceding Christmas, 2007. In time, and despite unbearable grief and sorrow, Amber’s family couldn’t help but remember how the teenager often talked about transforming the Children’s Hospital at Medcenter One. When she wasn’t telling someone what she envisioned for the children who would be hospitalized after her, she penciled her thoughts in her journal. Captivated by her favorite book, Peter Pan, Amber knew that our Children’s Hospital could be a place where fears were eliminated and pain diminished through the power of distraction.
