What is a sprained ankle?
TreatmentWhether the injury is a mild or severe sprain, the name of the game to minimize damage is called R.I.C.E. treatment:
For pain and to reduce inflammation, try ibuprofen (children’s ibuprofen for youth) or naproxen. Mild ankle sprains take about one week to heal. A bad sprain may take as long as a month. Once healing is nearly complete, your doctor may recommend stretching and strengthening exercises to protect the ankle from future injury.
